Research on Adaptation to Climate Change in Coastal
and Estuarine Systems. Synthesis Workshop
Belem do Pará, Brazil
2-4 October, 2013
Welcome!
The Núcleo de Altos Estudos Amazónicos (NAEA) of the Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPa) in Brazil, welcome you to the synthesis workshop on Research on Adaptation to Climate Change in Coastal and Estuarine Systems in Belém do Pará.
This workshop will gather representatives from eight IDRC-funded projects within the CCW program from three regions (Africa, Asia, and Latin America and Caribbean), with the goal of sharing research results, and consolidating and synthesize knowledge on adaptation in coastal and estuarine systems.
Over the past three years, IDRC's Climate Change
and Water (CCW) program has funded over 20
projects whose focus of research is vulnerability
and adaptation to climate change in coastal
and estuarine systems.
The workshop will focus on findings related to
three main areas of research:
-
climate stressors and impacts in coastal zones
-
research methodologies
-
results of identified adaptation strategies.
This workshop is organized by the NAEA, the lead coordinating institution of the research project "Sociocultural Adaptation of Caboclos Communities to Extreme Tidal Events in the Amazon Estuary of Brazil".
We invite you to visit the websites of NAEA-UFPA and IDRC's CCW program to learn more about our scope of work.
We look forward to a fruitful and productive workshop.
Sincerely,
Oriana Almeida
